twenty-thirteen :: la vie en rose

back in october, i was looking at my new year's resolutions for 2012 and thinking about the ones i would make for 2013. i started to set dates that things would happen, ie "by this date, i want to have..." or "i hope by  this month of 2013, i have..." and i soon realized how foolish that is. i accomplished about 85% of my resolutions for 2012, but this year, i have decided to have a theme--la vie en rose--to look at the world through rose colored glasses, to learn and grow, to be better than ever before, and to find more happy. yes, find more happy. i hope to be able to say at the end of the year:

"I have learnt how to live: how to be in the world and [not] of the world, and not just to stand aside and watch. And I will never, never again run away from life. Or from love, either." --Audrey Hepburn, Sabrina (1954)

sure, i've written out a whole bunch of resolutions like lose x number of pounds, wear my contacts for longer than two days at a time, read scriptures more, etc. but what i hope is my greatest accomplishment this year is a stronger relationship with God and learning to love me for who i am and my life. many of my friends have mentioned these two things in their resolution posts and i think it's a worthy goal. i hope we can all spend more time focusing on what truly makes us happy.

four quotes i have also decided will be guiding me this year:

"Indeed, when we are unduly impatient with an omniscient God's timing, we really are suggesting that we know what is best. Strange, isn't it-- we who wear wristwatches seek to counsel him who oversees cosmic clocks and calendars." --Neal A. Maxwell

"God has infinite attention to spare for each one of us. You are as much alone with Him as if you were the only being He had ever created." --C.S.  Lewis

"The more we devote ourselves to the pursuit of holiness and happiness, the less likely we will be on a path to regrets." --Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." --Thornton Wilde

Hope your 2013 is full of wonderful things
and brings you a whole lot of
