like a piece of apple pie

{picture overload from our gorgeous hike two weeks ago...finally! my sister should be a model.}

{things that made me happy this week}

-relistening to general conference talks...so many words of wisdom we can always glean from studying these talks again and again.

-doing observations in the clinic. ahhh i love watching clients progress and seeing the kinds of therapy i'll be able to do as a clinician one day. it's so cool to be able to already be knowing and deciding what i'd do and what i wouldn't do with different clients and their circumstances.

-talking in the clinic with janessa between observing clients. i love my chats with jan.

-talking with SLPs and professors about grad school options. this is real life!!

-driving to my cousin's football game on wednesday. we took the scenic route and it was absolutely gorgeous. vibrant fall colors all along the wasatch front + golden late afternoon sunshine = perfection. it was fun to see family and watch my cousin's team dominate. they're in 9th grade and look like they could be in college. so big and scary!! but very talented.

-laughing with thomas over the dumbest things always and discussing basketball with him. i'm so grateful for a little brother and little sister. they always know how to make my day. i'm grateful for my amazing parents too. i really enjoyed talking to my mom on the way to the football game and my dad took time out of his busy schedule to talk to me last night. i'm very blessed.

-"stay with me" by colbie caillat. it's from a couple years ago, but i can't believe i've never heard it until this week. i love it!!

-still enjoying apple crisp on a regular basis. this time of year always has the best food...looking forward to thanksgiving!

-sugar cookies. sometimes in life, you have to go through a little sugar cookie fix...especially when they're decorated cute for halloween.

-movie review: i took hope & thomas to see taken 2 last friday night and then my mom took hope & i to see hotel transylvania on monday. definitely see the latter. taken 2 was kind of a waste of time...we really just laughed through the whole thing because it was ridiculous. hotel transylvania was actually really cute. i was apprehensive about seeing it, but i really enjoyed it and thought it was worth the matinee price. i feel like there's not a lot of good ones out there right now. have you seen anything good lately?

-late night fabric store runs with hope after her volleyball game. we had to get thomas some fabric for his jr. high family & consumer science class and hope needed fabric for a throw pillow she's making for her high school clothing class. on that note, it's sad when the little bro comes home with his FACS projects and they look infinitely better than anything i ever made. hope & i  are already making plans for a cute quilt over christmas break.

-temple thursday. loved going over after work and walking around temple square afterwards. i love this quote i read a few weeks ago:

“As we go to the holy house, as we remember the covenants we make therein, we will be able to bear every trial and overcome each temptation. The temple provides purpose for our lives. It brings peace to our souls—not the peace provided by men but the peace promised by the Son of God when He said, ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’” -President Thomas S. Monson {read more here}

-the make-my-day kind of emails from my sister and the lovely steph {more on that to come!}

-simply the fact that it has been fall break all week! i'm sad it's coming to an end, but i'm excited to get back to school too!

what made you happy this week?
any fun weekend plans?

  4. those fall pictures are to die for gorgeous. i love lists like this. i especially love that making this list is acting on the words we heard in conference; to take inventory of our lives and notice the blessings. simple things that lead to happiness are indeed blessings, the simple ones we often forget to recognize as such. you know what we should do catherine?!?! go to the temple together sometime!!
