Balboa

Friday was our last day in California. In the morning, we went to the "joggin' hog" as Will called it at Annie's school (it was a little jog-a-thon to raise money for classroom activities). We went back to the Spectrum Center to do just a little more shopping...us girls bought matching earring sets at H&M and our Target addiction was definitely satisfied. We went back to get Annie so we could quickly go to Balboa. We passed the Newport Beach Temple on the way and I just felt so grateful to be able to have spent my Spring Break in such a beautiful place! We had frozen chocolate bananas, went in a little shop, and drove around the cute little streets in Balboa. We added the few souvenirs we purchased to our bags, finished getting ready to leave, and said goodbye to the kids and Katie's husband, Nate. Katie drove us to the airport and as we talked on the way there, I couldn't have felt more grateful to learn from her and her family's example during this trip and draw from her strength (she's the second counselor in her stake's relief society presidency and she was preparing for women's conference this week). It made me want to cry when I saw Holly and Katie hug at the airport, but it is such a comfort to know that no matter how far apart families are, we can still stay close and it made me feel so lucky to have the knowledge that families can be together forever.  Long Beach Airport is kind of a funny little airport, but we made it out and watched Roman Holiday on Holly's laptop on the flight home. Though it was a little sad to have it end, I felt so happy to have been able to go and have these fun experiences for four days.

It was such a fun trip and just perfect in every way!

  1. Yum! You can't go to Balboa island and not get a frozen banana...they're great! Glad you had a fun trip.
